A Nuclear-Powered Van?

As we set out on our excellent adventure, we told each other that we would try new things, so when the sign appeared for this atomic museum in Arco, Idaho, we nearly skidded the rig into the entrance. What a cool spot and a great piece of history for our country. This is the site of the world’s first nuclear reactor (circa 1951), and the first of its kind to use the electricity from the reactor to power the entire facility. We did a self-guided tour and we were even able to stand on top of the reactor core and hang out in the control room. If you are ever in the area, you should stop and check out this little gem, and it’s free, which fits our new lifestyle and senior budget quite nicely!
