We can’t give away all of Stephanie’s secret places, but this one was also excellent. These free camp spots are in the Grandjean area in the middle of nowhere along Route 21 between Stanley and Idaho City. The canyon road runs parallel to the beautiful South Fork of the Payette River, a river teaming with natural hot springs and hungry 6-inch cutthroat trout. We warmed our bodies in the Sacajawea hot springs, fished in the river in the evening, and gobbled up a big pot of chili for dinner as we listened to a mother Osprey feed her 2 chicks across the river. Another remarkable and peaceful place, thanks again Stephanie!
