Our sour beer alarm went off very loudly right after we left the Victor area, so we made an emergency visit to see our good friend, Bre Hovley, owner/manager at Barbarian Brewing in Boise. Bre is one of those special people that you meet for the first time and feel like you’ve known her forever. Bre has been awfully kind to us over the years, and our visit with her this time was no exception. We arrived in Boise mid-afternoon on a Monday, only to learn (via text) that the brewery was closed. But Bre texted us back minutes later, and invited us to join her at the brewery to pick up our membership release bottles from July. After we passed the secret-knock test, Bre invited us in. An hour later, we walked out with 4 growlers, 16 bottles, and a mild buzz from the 2 beers she served us as we chatted. It was like having our own private sour beer bartender!!! Pure heaven, thanks again, Bre and James, for all you do for us. James, best of luck in England teaching those Euros how to make real beer! We feel another emergency stop coming soon…
