We met our good friends from PC, Carmen and Paul (and Shylo), just over Galena Pass in the Stanley, Idaho area. We spent 1 night at Redfish Lake and 3 nights at Alturas Lake (thus avoiding the “combat camping” at Redfish, my goodness). This area is spectacular, to say the least. Gin-clear lakes and rivers, amazing mountains, and great recreational opportunities. We paddleboarded, swam, and fished in Alturas Lake, which was a quick 200-yard stroll from our campsite. Carmen made us 3 spectacular meals and we drank wine, margaritas, and beer like kings and queens. We did the 17.4-mile loop at Fisher Creek on our mountain bikes. Very cool ride…a few thousand feet of climbing followed by some great downhill. MJ and Paul couldn’t stop commenting on how much they enjoyed the climbing along with the 90 degree temps (you’re welcome). And Susan, this one didn’t even have any skull-and-crossbones warnings in the name, nor any references to the word “dead”! It was just another classic BKW ride (3 hours and 38 minutes of pure adventure). On Friday night, Paul was kind enough to reserve a pontoon boat on Redfish Lake for an evening cruise, snack, and booze. Thanks again, Captain…it was a wonderful evening in a great setting with some great friends. Carmen and Paul have set the bar, now it’s up to the rest of you to join us along the way. Just a reminder, we have a spare tent and a couple of sleeping arrangements (mattresses and bags) in case any of you want to fly in light and meet us somewhere. Looking forward to our next trip back to Redfish…in the off-season!
